Ordering Information

In 2008 we will be offering buck kids from outstanding dams.  We will also be selling about half of the doelings born this year.  We want our animals to contribute to the further improvement of the LaMancha breed, so we only sell buck kids from select breedings.  We raise a large portion of the kid crop to gather information on our herd sires and then keep all of the milking yearlings that show potential.

We feed top quality alfalfa hay and have recently added wheat hay to our goats diet.  Our milkers are fed a 16% protein, 2.5% fat ration.   Several different mineral mixes, as well as baking soda and plain salt are always available.  We worm on an as needed basis, and have begun doing fecals to determine who needs to be wormed and when.   During breeding season all of the does are hand bred and births attended.  Our bucks are housed in a separate area and grouped in three categories: buck kids, yearlings, and 2 years and over.  Our does are also housed in this fashion.

All kids offered for sale are raised on a CAE prevention program separate from adults and are guaranteed to be healthy and fertile at the time of sale.  Some of our bloodlines tend to be slow to mature, so please keep this in mind when ordering a kid from us.    We do not push our kids to mature quickly and we feel we gain structural correctness especially in the shoulder assembly and in feet and legs by allowing for a slower growth pattern.   We like a long bodied, clean boned animal with sharp withers and smooth shoulder blades that show no obvious motion while on the move.   We breed for long-lived animals with excellent,  capacious mammary systems, strong feet and legs, and lots of angularity.  Temperament is also important and we tend to cull any does that disrupt the milking routine.

We have not been on DHI test for several years.  We are currently looking for some reasonably priced meters for our inline milk system.  We have found a tester for our herd, and once we have the meters purchased and installed we will be back on test.  With our Grade A dairy, milk production is very important to us; we strive to increase production while maintaining quality conformation over the years.  We are breeding for does who fill their udders well in 12 hours, and do not need excessive hours of milk to be show ring ready.  We do not over udder our does for the show ring at any time.

Prices quoted are for kids up to 4 weeks of age and do not include health papers, shipping crate or shipping fees.  We ship out of Tucson International Airport.   We require a $100 deposit per kid ordered with the balance due 10 days after notification of birth.  Deposits are refunded if your choice is not born or if the animal is not up to our standards of quality.  Deposits are NOT refunded on cancelled orders.  All buck kids are sold with an agreement that we may purchase 20 straws of semen at collection cost.  We prefer to have Frozen Assets do this collection but understand that this may not always be possible.

Please let us know if you would like any further information regarding our animals or our herd management practices.
